Ven. Matugama Mahanama
Ven. Matugama Mahanama Thero was robed in 1964 and reached the higher ordination in 1974. He was born in Matugama Sri Lanka and was robed at Sri Indrasabawansikaramaya in Bopitiya Matugama by Most Ven Payagala Wimalawansa Thero. Ven. Mahanama was educated at Sri Sumangala University Buddhist College and earned a Bachelors Degree with Honors in 1982 from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Ven. Mahanama thero also received a Diploma in Education from National Institute of Education in 1994. Ven Mahanama served as the President and Abbot of Buddhist Center in Matugama, Sri Lanka, and as the Principal of Sri Sumangala Buddhist University College, and head in charge of Vidyadeepa Higher Education Polytecnic institute, and as Executive Director of Vidyadeepa Foundation, and as Justics of Peace in Sri Lanka over a 25 year period.
